  • The Mediterranean Diet: Vitality and Health Among the Elderly

This book pays tribute to a generation of women that through the utilization of their knowledge, skills and fortitude have managed to develop daily alimentary strategies within the context that is popularly known as the Mediterranean Diet. Frequently ignored, these women can be considered as an elemental rampart in the preservation of our gastronomic and cultural heritage. We are not just talking about the skills required to feed a family, questions of organization, budgeting, evaluation and sharing are also of primary importance. Faced with the socioeconomic, cultural and health threats posed by the McDonaldization of their lifestyles, the women of the Casablanca neighborhood (Zaragoza, Spain) explain (among many other things) how they are able to make ends meet every month. They talk about their culinary preferences, where they eat, where they shop and who they eat with. They further express their opinions on nutrition, celebrations and what can be done to improve our diets. The academic study comprised integrated qualitative and quantitative techniques and represents a psychosocial approach to the creation and implementation of alimentary strategies.

  • Martínez-Callaghan, Jordi, Gil-Lacruz, Marta, Social and kind networks among japanese migrants in Spain, Universidad de Zaragoza, 2015.

The Japanese community in Spain is a clear example of the evolution of migratory phenomena, in a European environment of economic crisis and questioning the Welfare state. From the earliest migratory flows in the late 1970s to the present day, both the demographic composition (feminization of immigration) and migratory goals, social networks and their role in the host society have been changing. This book amis to take the first steps to reach an empirical knowledge concerning the social reality that involves the Japanese who migrate to Spain. In order to do so, we will approach this phenomena as a normalizing process, away from stereotypes that stigmatize the immigrant population . It is particularly interesting to deepen its integration process.

  • Cantarero, Luis (coord.), Psicología aplicada al fútbol. Jugar con cabeza, Prensas de la Universidad de Zaragoza, Zaragoza, 2013.

In this book coaches, physical trainers and psychologists bring together their thoughts and the real experiences of their psychological work applied to football, rather than mass-produced works with an academic format that are aimed at prestigious journals, albeit with a limited impact. For this reason, the chapters in this book do not contain long digressions and present just the necessary theoretical considerations. We believe that these articles will become, no doubt, a point of reference for professionals wishing to use mental training in football. Likewise, it is our belief that books like this will contribute to the development and knowledge of this subject and to the permanent establishment of psychology in the world of football.
